non-formal education program
Due to the socio-economic and political reality of the
country a large section of children of school-going age have never ever
stepped in a school.
SEO’s Non-formal Education Program is targeted towards these children.
We are running a non-formal class for these children for four hours a day
six days a week. They are taught Nepali, English, Basic Mathematics, Science,
Social Studies, Health and Moral Studies. Activities drawing, painting,
knitting, story telling, singing, dancing and games are also taught. They
are provided books and stationery free of cost. They are also treated to
some light snacks free. They have a free medical check up and distribution
of prescribed medicine once a month.

These children need a lot of motivation to attend the classes
regularly. We have interaction with their parents and also have quiet talks
with the children to make them understand the importance of education and
of being at-least a literate to have a better future.

These children are given non-formal education for about
one to two years and made capable of assimilating in a formal schooling
atmosphere and willing to get further schooling. They are then enrolled
in schools and sponsors are found for them. You can participate in this
Non-formal Education Program by contributing to our general fund or by sponsoring
the education of a child /children.

The program was financially supported by Province of Bolzano, Italy for the year 2006. Three classrooms and four toilets were constructed. Furniture, educational materials, computers and a mini library were also funded by the province. SEO family is grateful to the Province of Bolzano for its’ wholehearted support to our endeavor to work for the poor and underprivileged.
